Wichita Recordings!

Ok, so everyone these days is aware of Domino and Rough Trade but fuck that..they 're too old these days..
Wichita Recordings on the other hand, just keeps coming up with all these great releases from young, exciting new bands!Except for Bloc Party of course which is too old, but still manage to remain a little exciting..Ranging from usual, poppy, indie-rock to some hard punk stuff and even some folky tunes, Wichita's catalogue just keeps getting better and better. At first it was just Bloc Party and Bright Eyes but since The Cribs joined in, this London based label has just hitted off(well, at least in BrokenBeats's eyes..)!So, yeah they 've signed Peter Bjorn And John which sucks, but apart from that, every single one of its other releases has been top quality...

Anyway, this post is not about praising all of Wichita's well known bands. Its about all of its other, newly signed artists. And that is : Los Campesinos!, Sky Larkin, Lovvers and The Dodos ( they 're a bit old too but they 've got some really good songs..) ..Also, i should probably add to the list Those Dancing Days but i think they 're a little too boring..

I am not even going to start with Los Campesinos!.. They officially became BrokenBeats's fave band, at least for 2008, with just one verse of their song " Its never that easy though is it ( a song for the other Kurt )". Here it is: "As if I walked into the room to see my ex-girlfriend
Who by the way, I'm still in love with
Sucking the face of some pretty boy
With my favourite band's most popular song in the background
Is it wrong that I can't decide which bothers me most?
In the forefront of my mind it's the thought
Not of you underneath, but me coming out looking worse".

Well, what about Sky Larkin? Probably the best way to describe Sky Larkin is to say that they stand somewhere in between of every famous american indie band of the 90's being mixed up with Los Campesinos frenzied pop attitude, with a girl's voice on top of all that..

Next stop is Lovvers..there isnt something really special aboout Lovvers except that they 're making some indie-punk music in the style of The Thermals which is pretty fucking great!

Last but not least, The Dodos have got two of BrokenBeats's favourite songs to go to sleep to.."Red And Purple" and "Fools" is just two extraordinary pieces of weird-poppy-sentimental music...
